VMware NSX L3 Deployment Engineer

Location: Mumbai/Bangalore/Delhi/Chennai

Work Experience: 5–8 years total experience, with strong focus on network virtualization and NSX deployments.

Requirements:

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX deployments (NSX-T / NSX).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (CCNA/CCNP level), including:

    • TCP/IP, VLANs, trunking
    • Routing and switching
    • BGP, OSPF, static routing
    • MTU, LACP, and network redundancy
  • Experience integrating NSX with physical network infrastructure.
  • L3-level troubleshooting skills for network virtualization and overlay networking.
  • Experience working in enterprise customer environments.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts:

    • Distributed firewall
    • Micro-segmentation
    • Load balancers (L4/L7 – basic to intermediate)

Desired / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • NSX deployments as part of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
  • Automation or scripting exposure (PowerCLI, Ansible, or APIs).
  • Experience with multi-site or stretched cluster NSX designs.
  • VMware or networking certifications:

    • CCNA / CCNP (Routing & Switching or Enterprise)
    • VMware NSX certifications (VCP-NV or equivalent)

Travel Requirement

  • Willingness to travel (domestic and/or international) based on project requirements.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications, or equivalent work experience.

Job Description:

  • Act as an L3 Deployment Engineer for VMware NSX-based solutions.
  • Design and execute end-to-end VMware NSX deployments in customer environments.
  • Plan and implement:

    • NSX Manager, control plane, and data plane components
    • NSX-T / NSX networking constructs (segments, gateways, routing)
  • Integrate NSX with:

    • VMware vSphere
    • Physical network infrastructure (ToR switches, routing, VLANs)
  • Deploy and configure:

    • Logical switching and routing
    • North-South and East-West traffic flows
    • Load balancing, firewalling, and security policies
  • Validate infrastructure and network readiness prior to deployment.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to:

    • Overlay and underlay networking
    • Routing, BGP, OSPF, and MTU-related issues
    • NSX integration with physical networks
  • Work directly with customers during design, deployment, testing, and handover phases.
  • Create deployment documentation, design diagrams, and as-built reports.
  • Collaborate with internal architecture and escalation teams as required.
