Job Description:

  • Design, develop and maintain custom Magento 2 modules on Magento Open Source 2.4.7, following Magento best practices and coding standards.
  • Build and extend business logic using dependency injection, plugins, observers, service contracts, repositories and generated factories, without modifying core code.
  • Work across the catalog, checkout and sales domains to deliver new features and improve existing ones.
  • Design and evolve the data layer using declarative schema, data patches, resource models, collections and EAV attributes.
  • Write efficient SQL for MySQL, MariaDB and Aurora; analyse slow queries with EXPLAIN, optimise indexes and avoid inefficient collection loading.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and third-party integrations, including Stripe, Fullsteam, QuickBooks, Plivo, Google Maps and Mapbox.
  • Implement asynchronous processing with AWS SQS and manage media and file storage on S3.
  • Configure and troubleshoot OpenSearch indexes, mappings, aliases and Magento indexers; diagnose indexing failures and search relevance issues.
  • Manage caching across Redis, Varnish and Magento’s full page cache; resolve stale data, cache invalidation and session issues.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers on React 17/TypeScript applications that consume Magento APIs.
  • Write maintainable PHPUnit tests with mocks and data providers, and support integration and MFTF test coverage.
  • Keep code quality high with PHPCS (Magento Coding Standard), PHPStan and PHPMD, and take part in code reviews.
  • Follow a Git workflow with feature branches, focused commits, pull requests and conflict resolution, with changes validated through CI.
  • Debug production and staging issues by tracing logs, database queries, indexers and cache layers.
  • Apply secure coding practices: ACL, CSRF protection, input validation and output escaping.
  • Work with the product and QA teams through Asana, Slack and GitHub, and give accurate estimates and progress updates.
